A Surprise Drink Shift from Burger King
Burger King has brought some fresh updates to its U.S. menu. On Friday, a spokesperson told Newsweek that the chain has started selling iced cold foam coffees and real juice lemonades in many stores across the country.
The new drinks include Vanilla, Mocha, Black, and Plain Cold Foam Coffee. For now, Plain is only at selected outlets. Alongside these, customers will find Strawberry Lemonade and Mango Peach Lemonade, both made from real juice, not concentrate.
What the Brand Is Saying
“The Strawberry Lemonade is made with real fruit juice providing a refreshing tart taste,” a Burger King spokesperson told Newsweek.
“The Mango Peach Lemonade is a vibrant blend of lemonade, peach and mango juices. Customers will pay $2.49 for a small, $2.79 for a medium and $3.29 for a large — but prices can vary by location.
The Bigger Picture Behind This Launch
These drinks aren’t just here for fun. It looks like Burger King is getting serious about competing with Starbucks, McDonald’s, and even Dutch Bros in the drinks category. Over the past few years, coffee and flavoured lemonades have turned into a battleground. So, Burger King wants a place in that game.
This move comes soon after their new burger idea—The BBQ Brisket Whopper, made of slow-cooked brisket, onions, cheese, BBQ sauce, and a flame-grilled patty. It’s part of their “Whopper by You” program, which lets people send in burger ideas online.
Expert Opinions on the Move
Kevin Thompson, CEO at 9i Capital Group, spoke to Newsweek and said Burger King wants to catch those customers who would normally visit Starbucks or McDonald’s just for a drink.
Alex Beene, who teaches financial literacy in Tennessee, told Newsweek that food chains have been hit hard. “Because of high prices, many people stay home and cook,” he said. “Burger King is trying something new to win them back.”
What Comes Next?
No official dates have been given for how long these drinks will stay. But for now, they are available in participating stores across the U.S. The BBQ Brisket Whopper, too, is a limited-time item.
As food competition heats up and drink menus grow bolder, Burger King seems ready to bring more action to its counters—this time not just with burgers, but with bold drinks in hand.
